About Tam Norman
My life is chaos in the best sense of the word. It is constantly filled with the sounds only 3 very energetic boys, husband, 2 dogs, and a few chickens can provide. This leaves me painting in the late evenings, when most of the house has settled down.
I attended Virginia Commonwealth University, completing their Communication Arts program (illustration and design). After graduating, however, life took a different turn, with more than a decade-long stint in banking. There was very little drawing and painting during that time as I built my family and home. It wasn't until I picked up Carol Marine’s “Daily Painting” book in 2022 that I began to create again regularly. I currently have pieces displayed at RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, VA, and have left banking to spend more time with my family as well as focus on painting when I can.
Our days are always an adventure of some magnitude. When I am not painting or chasing my family around, I do some linocut printing, cross stitch, reading, fishing, etc. While painting, I listen to music and podcasts.
I’m Tam Norman, an oil painter nestled in the heart of central-ish Virginia. My paintings tread the line between realism and modern impressionism, often sharing my perspective of one’s daily experience.
